Care Home Visitor Volunteer

What sort of person makes a good Total Voice volunteer?

Our volunteers often have a personal interest in disability, mental health or human rights, or in helping people with care needs; however, this is not essential. As above, it is far more about the values you share with us, than your experience or skills.

What do you get from volunteering?

All Volunteers will receive and must complete comprehensive training and shadowing with an experienced member of our team before they start.

Volunteers will be able to:

• Build up their personal and professional experience in health and social care.
• Develop skills in key health and social care approaches, in accessibility, confidentiality and empathy.

What are our volunteering roles?

Hospital Volunteer – Give light touch support and signposting to people in a mental health unit. Great if you want to support people to understand their rights when it really matters. Download a role profile here.

Outreach Volunteer – Help us provide more help to people in the community. Ideal if you enjoy visiting different places and chatting to people about their issues or supporting them to be heard. Download a role profile here.

Support Session Volunteer – Provide on-site support with a range of activities, including face to face, phone and email support and making documents accessible. Best if you have a range of communication skills with which you’d like to support people. Download a role profile here.

Care Home Visitor Volunteer – Care Home Visitors support our Relevant Person Representative (RPR) advocates. A Care Home Visitor would work alongside the RPR Advocate to support the Advocate’s work. Download a role profile here.
